Acers new netbook running Android

Acer will be shipping netbooks running Android, netbooks running XP will be launched later this year. Dell and HP seems to be interested in similar products.

The advantage of going for Android is fast boot and fast shutdown compared to XP.

This netbook will be first netbook running Android, and it looks like other netbook manufacturers will also follow with Android.

The benefit we get is Free OS which is Virus free with good performance and low price.

Acer has announced it would launch Android based netbooks in the 3rd quarter of 2009. This netbook will be powered by Intel Atom, and because Android the price will be less than the Windows based netbooks. Acer will still continue to offer Windows based netbooks too.

ThinkFree inc.,  announced it will show a demo of mobile for Android, featuring read and write of documents, spread sheets, presentations and drawing objects in mobile. ThinkFree also provides 1GB of free space online for storing these office files.

The event is planned from June 2nd through 6th at COMPUTEX trade show in Taiwan.

This should be the first Android mobile with all these features. The UI looks really great, the price tag of the product is not known. I will be one to grab it when it is released.
