Know who has called you, even if the number is not stored in your Phone book. This sounds strange but Privusmobile has made it possible.

This is possible by getting the callers information from Internet.

The advantages,

  • Easy to find who has called.
  • Store the contact directly to Home, Mobile or Work contact. (No typing name)
  • Good for people who travel lot.
  • The application downloads contacts from Internet by Wi-Fi, 3G or even through EDGE.

The disadvantages,

  • Always requires a Internet connection.
  • Speed in fetching contacts is show even in Wi-Fi network.

Use Android to locate the nearest places with ‘Place Directory’ apps

Android app, "Places Directory" listing places

We mostly get into a situation were, the nearest ATM, Bank, Bar, Gas station and much more are not known in a new place. Few members from Google Mobile decided to address this using 20% of their time. This resulted in “Places Directory” a new Android App.

This application uses the GPS data (for your current location) and Google Maps, to find the places near by. The places fall under 11 categories. They are,

  • Attractions
  • Banks
  • Bars
  • Coffee
  • Gas Stations
  • Hotels
  • Medical
  • Movie Theaters
  • Parking Restaurants
  • Shopping
  • Taxis

Android app, "Places directory"

The resultant places are shown with distance, direction, ratings, pictures, reviews and contact information. The direction arrows point to the direction of the place, which is one cool feature.

ThinkFree mobile

ThinkFree inc.,  announced it will show a demo of mobile for Android, featuring read and write of documents, spread sheets, presentations and drawing objects in mobile. ThinkFree also provides 1GB of free space online for storing these office files.

The event is planned from June 2nd through 6th at COMPUTEX trade show in Taiwan.

This should be the first Android mobile with all these features. The UI looks really great, the price tag of the product is not known. I will be one to grab it when it is released.
